After checking in at the Sai Gon- Mui Ne resort in Phan Thiet city, we took a drive to Mui Ne sand dunes. It is also called “Flying sand dunes” because its shape changes continuously after each wave of strong wind. This is one of the most interesting sightseeing at Mui ne, Phan Thiet.
Mui Ne sand dunes are formed by ancient iron mine hundreds of years ago. The erosion of the land and the effect of strong wind create the different random shapes of sand. Therefore the sand dunes’ shapes always change after waves of strong winds or after a night. There are two main sand dunes at Mui Ne which are the White sand dunes and the Red sand dunes.
WHITE SAND DUNES
The White sand dunes called ‘Bau Trang’ are larger and the sand turns white there. The local people grow lotus on a lake to collect lotus seeds and roots. This action creates a beautiful lotus lake in the white sand dunes by chance. However, the white land was less accessible, so we went to the Red sand dunes.
RED SAND DUNES
The Red sand dunes are located about 20km from the Phan Thiet, so there are more visitors there. The sand dunes are like a wide expanse of barren land. The sand has reddish-brown colour and becomes very beautiful in the sunlight. This place is a combination of sun, wind and sand paradise. Walking barefoot on the hot sand and enjoying the fresh coconut water are the most interesting experience.
WHAT TO DO
-The most interesting activity is the sand sliding. There are always many kids selling the skateboards for 1$. Remember to check the quality of those boards. It will be a great feeling to slide on the endless sand slopes. -Sand dunes are a great place for shooting photos or videos. The endless sand dunes at dawn or twilight are the inspirational ideas for posing and capturing unique photos. -The wind blows strongly on the vast sand dunes. Hence you can spend a great time flying kites there. – You will become relaxed after walking barefoot on the hot sand and enjoying the atmosphere. -There are fewer visitors on white sand dunes, so it is an ideal place for sports games such as riding motorbikes.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
