Hot Chinese dumpling soup

After going to the flower street, I and my high school friend tried to drop by some places to have a quick dinner. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, most of coffee shops or restaurants closed, so we had difficulty finding some foodstalls. Luckily, the dumplings foodstalls still opened, so we decided to give it a try.

Ha Ton Quyen street in District 11, Ho Chi Minh city is famous for the Chinese dumplings. There are a lot of dumpling food stalls along this street. These stalls were too crowded, so we had to share the table with other people. We decided to order two bowls of Chinese dumpling soup and one dish of fried dumplings. We enjoyed the food while chatting about our recent lives.

The fried dumplings were definitely delicious. The golden brown crust of these dumplings tasted firm and crispy. Inside the dumpling was a fresh big shrimp. The sauce was spicy and a little bit sweet. Every bite of the dumpling dipped in the special sauce was heavenly delicious.

The Chinese dumpling soup was served hot within 10 minutes. This was absolutely my favourite. The broth was simmered with pork bones, so it had a natural sweet taste of pork. The dumpling wrapper was thin and very tender. The filling was made of a big shrimp and minced pork. Taking a slurp from the hot broth and biting a piece of shrimp dumpling was fresh and tasty. In addition to the shrimp dumplings, the soup also had fish balls, dried squid and a lot of sweet lettuces to add more flavours. The crunchy fish balls and squid created a different taste from the tender shrimp dumplings. The green sweet lettuce made the soup not greasy.

  1. We have the same problem in Singapore too! On the 1st day of CNY, really hard to find a coffee shop or restaurant (except fast-food) that is opened.
Your dumpling soup is so tempting! ^_^
